Former REW Executive Engineer, orderly convicted in anti-corruption trap case | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 14 (KNO): A Special Anti-Corruption Court in Srinagar on Friday convicted a former Executive Engineer of Rural Engineering Wing (REW), Ganderbal, and an orderly in a bribery trap case, sentencing both to four years’ simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 on each count. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, convicted Ghulam Nabi Dar, the then Executive Engineer, REW Ganderbal, and Mohd. Shameem Parra, the then orderly, in the trap case registered by the VOK (now ACB), Srinagar. He said the case, FIR No. 02/2014 of Police Station VOK (now ACB), was registered in connection with the demand and acceptance of illegal gratification during the processing of a contractor’s bill. “The Court held both accused guilty under the relevant provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, including criminal misconduct under Section 5(2) read with Section 5(1)(d), accepting illegal gratification under Section 4-A, and criminal conspiracy under Section 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code, and sentenced each convict to four years’ simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 on each count, with the sentences to run concurrently,” the spokesperson said. He said the case was represented before the Court by ACB Special Public Prosecutor Wajahat Jamil (CPO). The judgment was pronounced on August 14, 2026, by Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, Tasleem Arief—(KNO)
